Valentine's Day Preparation

I realize that Valentine's Day is a month away, but putting together a successful themed photo shoot takes time. This week has mostly been dedicated to all the prep work for the holiday of love.

What got me started on this next little project was one of the printing companies that I use sent me an email with their specials for Valentine's Day. I felt that this was a phenomenal offer and I instantly wanted to share it with everyone around me. My head started spinning with all sorts of details. The backdrops I could make, the props I could use, and when I got to the location side of this plan, I hit a little speed bump. I still do not have a studio of my own. I have only been doing on location sessions and it is super cold out there right now.

Luckily I live in a small town where I know most of the business owners. I started thinking of all the places that I might be able to rent a space for this photo event. I called around and sure enough, I had found a place. I love my town!

Next on the "To Do" list for this event was advertising. I had found a place, date, and times; time to start making flyers to post. This is what I did...
With the help of my adorable little boy, I took these advertisements around town and posted them in several of the local businesses. While hanging these papers, I had several people also ask for my business cards. Can you say excited?! I love it when my ideas just seem to all fall into place. I have also posted this flyer on my Facebook profile and page.

Now I'm onto the next step of this plan, designing my set. The fabric I need to make my backdrops are ordered, so now all I need to do is get a few small decorations/props and I will be good to go. I really think that the craft stores around me will be getting to know me well, as I am a frequent flier there. Making most of my photography supplies is not only fun, but it ensures that my style is unique and allows me to keep my prices down. I'm really looking forward to seeing my vision come to life!
